Gerry, I just watched a documentary about the New Forest. I learnt that it has existed since the days of William the Conqueror. It’s interesting that in summer when tourists flock to the forest, they never wander far from the road. But deeper in, for those who walk far from the noise of the town, the forest is regenerative. One man talked about the trees that survive despite ponies and cows and deer. He said an oak takes 300 years to grow, 300 years to live and 300 years to die. Fantastic. I enjoyed watching this.
Yes Trish this is so right, I had done a few post about the forest, and today it is still wondered why it is called the New Forest ass it is very old actually. And yes most just follow standard tracks and roads, few delve deeper to find the treasures..’;)
I have my doubts that it is in the New Forest? Lovely woody scenes.
They certainly are, in an area called Blackwater, tall trees arboretum. between Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst… 😉
Well done!
Thank you very much appreciated, 😉
