Me, I Think!

I am a  person with plenty of time on my hands. In the last couple of years I have started these blogs/posts mainly to speak my mind and generally release some pent-up frustration.

In my early years I played the guitar ( and still do) for several bands, covering various styles, rock and roll, country and middle of the road.I played as a soloist, writing my own songs, lyrics and poems, and started in folk clubs. So I thought this might be a good way to express myself and hope that I can pass on to other people. While I have been doing this I have also discovered other people whose writing I also like so am learning as I travel this road to discovery.

Update… Have now posted a few and received some good responses, and discovered other good pages. my music had become a little more prominent due to frequenting folk clubs and jamming sessions.

Thank you and Please enjoy..

  4. Hey, Gerry, have you heard of a site called “PoemHunter.com”? It’s a site where poets from all over the world connect, publish their poems online — on their own special “poet’s page” — and have the opportunity to put together a whole poetry e-book in an Adobe format.

They also have one of the largest collections of poetry by the late-great poets of our world. It’s really neat. And best of all, there doesn’t seem to be any problem with getting the poems to format perfectly and stay that way. I guess it’s because it’s a site devoted exclusively to poets.

Thought you might want to check it out. You write poems and songs (which are actually poems too), and I’d love to see you set up a page on there. When you get there, just go up to the top of their page, where they have a row of choices: “e-mail, password, login, become a member, etc.” Click on “Become a Member,” and all you have to do is fill in a little basic information, and they give you your own “Poet’s Page” and “Profile Page,” where you can do whatever you want. It’s all free.

You can include a picture of yourself or not — and it works basically the same way Facebook does: just click that you want to post a picture, and they give you a button to choose from your computer file, etc. Then every time you want to post a new poem, you just click on the button that says you want to post a new poem. They automatically add it to your collection. Then other people can go onto your page and comment on your work.

You can also click to be notified of other people’s comments by e-mail. That’s best, because then you have a chance to respond. They give you a little box to do that. But so far I haven’t found a way to respond to comments right on the other person’s comment (like we do here).

Dennis O’Brien, Dennis Lange, and I are all on there, and there may be other poets from here as well, but I haven’t checked all of them out yet. I didn’t see the emblem on your site, so I figured you might not know about it, but it would be another great outlet for your work. Here’s the link in case you want to check it out:

  9. Hey, Gerry. Just wanted to say that I’ve really been missing your posts. I hope you’re doing okay where your health is concerned. I know you’ve been going through a hard time since losing your brother, but I’m hoping you can get back to writing and posting again and that it will help you work through your grief.

    Sending blessings your way.
    Sandra

    1. Sandra thank you so much for your kind words. Yes my brother did hit me harder than expected but am much better these days. I wish I could do some posts but I am having trouble thinking of subjects. Maybe I should do some photo posts, not sure. I can assure you that I am going to do some, a flash of ideas will certainly come my way. I haven’t even written anything either. I started a follow up story to my crime story but have drawn a blank, but I will not give up on it. Thank you Sandra, I do feel as I am letting people down but remember this is only temporary. Hopefully. 🙂
